Only 10 minutes by train from Victoria or London Bridge, Dulwich Picture Gallery has always been a stylish venue for corporate and private events and, having just secured their wedding license, is now available for civil ceremonies as well as receptions.
Floral Symphonies was delighted to create contemporary room layouts for the photo shoot for their new brochure. Here’s how we achieved these stunning looks:
For this dramatic look we wanted to contrast the 17th century art work with 21st century furniture. We used Philippe Stark ‘Ghost’ chairs, Perspex tables and Perspex table lamps, all lit from below with ice blue, to create the illusion of ‘ghost’ furniture. Striking red and yellow Gloriosa Superba were placed in mirrored cubes around the table lamp and these were in turn surrounded by battery tea lights in glass votives. We kept the tableware minimal with clear glass charger plates, plain crystal glasses and elegant silver cutlery and continued the ice blue theme with pale aqua Tudor napkins folded on each plate.

Spectacular dinners for up to 120 can be held on one long table running the full length of the galleries. For this look we used tall ‘Martini glass’ vases with Euphorbia Fulgens and Viburnum Opulus in citrus colours to compliment the terracotta walls. In-between the tall arrangements we grouped posies of lemon and orange roses in lime green glass beakers and battery tea lights in lemon votives. We dressed the tables in black Indian cotton cloths and used black chairs and seat pads to contrast the vibrant colours then draped lime green Indian cotton napkins over the edge of the table to create the illusion of the table receding forever.

Dulwich Picture Gallery was England’s first ever public art gallery and is now a blend of elegant Georgian galleries and contemporary glass spaces, surrounded by landscaped gardens. Dinners (for 120) and receptions (for 350) take place amongst one of the world's most important collections of Old Master paintings whilst the contemporary Linbury Room is perfect for daytime meetings, civil ceremonies, smaller events or after-dinner dancing. The glass Cloisters and gardens may be used for drinks receptions and there is even a marquee site (for 200) making the Gallery a versatile venue for any event.
Thanks to Jalapendo london, White Light, Great Hire, Well Dressed Tables and Just 4 Linen for helping us create these sensational looks and, of course, to Benedict Johnson for the photography.
